Airport Security Coordinator Training
This class focuses on aviation security and the many roles of the Airport Security Coordinator. The course is designed to prepare individuals to perform the functions of the Airport Security Coordinator as required by 49 CFR 1542.3. The course includes an overview of the history of aviation security, working functions of the agencies with security responsibilities, an understanding of why information is restricted, the purpose of the Airport Security Program, and specific instruction in the functions of the Airport Security Coordinator position.
Emphases is placed on the Code of Federal Regulations Title 1542, 1544, 1546, 1548 and 1550 that determine security directives among the airport and airport partners. Upon completion of this course students will be familiar with the Airport Security Plan (ASP) as well as the regulations that govern airport security.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the working functions of the TSA
- Develop an understanding of why information is restricted
- Understand the purpose of the Airport Security Plan/Program
- Be able to perform the job tasks of an Airport Security Coordinator (ASC)
- Demonstrate an understanding of ASC requirements
- Be able to develop corrective action procedures for changed conditions in airport security operations
- Be able to audit compliance with airport security programs
- Understand liaison role with Law Enforcement at their airport
Airport Security Coordinator Online WebEx
This online webinar course focuses on aviation security and the many roles of the Airport Security Coordinator. The course is designed to prepare individuals to perform the functions of the Airport Security Coordinator as required by 49 CFR 1542.3.
The course is taught in two 3-hour sessions conducted on the same day. Participants will be able to interact by viewing the instructor, answering periodic polling questions and occasional open-mic discussions with attendees.
As much as possible the web-session attempts to emulate a classroom workshop so all attendees leave with an understanding that includes an overview of the history of aviation security, working functions of the agencies with security responsibilities, an understanding of why information is restricted, the purpose of the Airport Security Program, and specific instruction in the functions of the Airport Security Coordinator position.

Ground Security Coordinator
This is one of our signature customized courses. The course discusses the roles of aviation employees and the relevant procedures required in TSAR Part 1544 or 1546 regulations. Emphasis is placed on the specific functions for employees working for domestic and international airlines.
This course is conducted through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and scenario resolution. The course aims to solicit study into the human factors that impact aviation security as well as compliance of the work force.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the security functions of the TSA
- Develop an understanding of the impact of individuals in aviation security
- Understand the affect of compliance and vigilance
- Be able to impact compliance with air carrier operator standard security programs (AOSSP)

Security Writer’s Workshop
This 1-day workshop is designed to assist airport managers to update their current ASP to meet the TSA guidelines and revised directives.
Students leave with:
- a completed ASP formatted to the guidelines
- details for final completion and submission for TSA approval
- resources at neighboring same-sized airports
Students learn:
- Required items for their airport
- Technical document formatting tips that save revision time

Security Identification Display Area Training
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to access secured areas of an airport.
The course will provide students with an overview of the Transportation Security Administration and its impact on security regulations and procedures. The course addresses the purpose of an Airport's identification system and includes airport-specific instruction in the function and use of an ID badge. Emphasis is placed on an individual's responsibilities and duties while working in a SIDA area. Conducted through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and scenario resolution, the course requires both instructor and students to contribute to the overall learning experience.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the regulatory function of the TSA
- Understand the purpose of an Airport's Security ID Program
- Be able to perform their job responsibilities and duties while working in an Airport's SIDA
- Demonstrate an understanding of the SIDA requirements
- Be able to carry-out vigilance duties and correct challenge procedures
Operational Risk Management
This course focuses on Operational Risk Management and incorporates a practiced six-step process to assist both front-line and leadership personnel in identifying, addressing, and managing risks within the airport environment. The course covers how ORM principles can be used within a Safety Management System (SMS) program as described the February 2007 FAA Advisory Circular and includes discussions on the coordination of an ORM program with current safety programs by the airport’s tenants and vendors.
During class students will discover past methods used within aviation safety programs and be introduce to the ORM process. Students will also practice the ORM steps with real time examples of current operational issues that affect front-line airport operations.

- Prepare airports and aviation personnel to develop a risk-based approach to Safety Management
- Cover the basic tenets of the FAA Advisory Circular on Safety Management Systems
- Provide insight into ways to update and improve current programs
- Provide an understanding of how safety & operational issues affect the ability to manage risks

Hazardous Materials Training: Shipper & Handling
This course is required training for all employees who ship hazardous materials. This class focuses on the general shipping requirements of hazardous materials and how to read the 49CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations manual. This course is offered as a half-day course for recurrent training or a full-day course for initial training.
A basic hazardous materials discussion is the focus for employees working with bulk and non-bulk packaging, labeling, loading, and unloading. Conducted through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and scenario resolution, the course requires both instructor and students to contribute to the overall learning experience.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course will be familiar with procedures for packaging, marking, labeling and documenting hazardous materials shipments.
Students will know and understand:
- The definition of a hazardous material
- The nine classes of hazardous materials
- How to recognize potential or hidden hazards
- How to properly package hazardous materials for shipment
- How to properly mark, label and document hazardous materials shipments
- Safety precautions and emergency response information
Traveler Personal Security Tips
This course will provide students with a general overview of common security procedures and measure that can be taken to be safe while traveling. Guidelines from the TSA Travel Tips are conveyed and illustrated through discussions, scenario resolution, and humor the course encourages students to contribute to the overall learning experience.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the common security procedures
- Develop an understanding of the inspection process
- Determine permitted or prohibited items for traveling
Airport Driver Training
This class focuses on driver’s training for the Non-Movement Area of the airport and is needed for safe driving operations. The course is intended for all employees who have an operational need to drive on airfield vehicle service-roadways and ramp apron areas and includes a post exam on material. Emphasis is also given to personal safety, safety of the aircraft and airport equipment.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn non-movement area(s) of the airport
- Service roadway speed limits, markings and signage
- Proper airport driving procedures
- Driving safety techniques
- Driving security procedures
- Proper vehicle escort procedures
Airfield Driver Safety
This class focuses on driver’s training for the Movement Area of the airport and is needed for safe driving operations. The course is intended for all employees who have an operational need to drive within the Aircraft Operations Area of the airfield and includes a post exam on material.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the rules and regulations for driving within the AMA
- Taxiway and runway markings, signage and safety areas
- Air Traffic Control and ground radio communication
- Proper entrance and departure procedures to the AMA
